From the magnificent Kimberley and Pilbara, to the wide open Nullarbor, WA’s Outback is an amazing place. Please take a moment to send a message of support for the future of our Outback.
For more than a century, WA’s Outback pastoral stations have helped our State to prosper. However, government restrictions requiring stations to run cattle or sheep are now making over half of these leased properties unsustainable for both people and nature.
An area three times larger than Tasmania is now officially in ‘poor condition’, but pastoralists are being denied the opportunity to turn this around because of outdated laws and continued government inaction. Many of them would like the option of earning income from activities that help care for the land, such as tourism or conservation.
But frustrated with the brakes on sustainable opportunities, people are leaving the land. Bushfires, feral animals and weeds are being left unmanaged.
This is a slow-moving disaster unfolding for our Outback.
Please sign our petition calling on Premier Barnett and your local MP to take action.
If we all do our bit, together we can turn things around for the landscapes and livelihoods in the heart of our State.
