Send a message of congratulations to Nanda Traditional Owners and the WA Government for this historic announcement!

Dear Premier Cook and Minister Whitby

Congratulations to you and the WA Government on partnering with Nanda Traditional Owners on the creation of new national parks and reserves on Nanda Country.

This announcement is an exciting milestone towards the delivery of the government’s historic Plan for Our Parks commitment, adding 5 million hectares to WA's conservation estate.

These new national parks mark a historic moment for Nanda Traditional Owners, Nanda Aboriginal Corporation and the Cook Government, to ensure the protection of more of WA's amazing biodiversity.

You have my strong support for this conservation achievement as these national parks will help preserve Nanda culture and will provide protection for the incredible landscapes and biodiversity of the iconic Mid West region, including stronger protection for areas around Kalbarri and the incredible Zuytdorp Cliffs.

These new national parks and reserves will support the Nanda Aboriginal Corporation and Nanda Traditional Owners to protect and manage their Country, while creating jobs and economic development through tourism and the creation of a new Aboriginal ranger program that will have long-lasting benefits for Nanda people and nature.

I look forward to welcoming more national parks and marine parks under Plan for Our Parks throughout 2024 and urge you to continue to create protected areas across WA in partnership with Traditional Owners.

Once again, I congratulate you, the WA Government, Nanda Aboriginal Corporation and Nanda Traditional Owners on this announcement and the opportunities it will create for people and nature in WA.

    Yours sincerely,
