An evening with international award-winning photographer Christian Fletcher
Award-winning photographer Christian Fletcher is well-known for his amazing landscape images, which many Western Australians are familiar with from his galleries in Dunsborough and Mandurah.
But Christian also has a strong environmental ethos, and this week he headlined a "Stories of our Outback" speaker event held in Rockingham in support of Create Ranger Parks.
Speaking to nearly 100 guests, Christian said that travelling overseas made him realise just how unique the landscapes of the Australian Outback really are, and he supports efforts to increase national parks for both people and nature.
“The Outback is just an amazing part of the world, and we’re so lucky to have it as our backyard,” Christian said.

During the event, Christian revealed the stories of adventure – and misadventure! – that sit behind some of his most iconic Outback photographs, as well as a few of the tips and tricks that have allowed him to reach the top of his profession.
“I’m really pleased that my photography can help bring the Outback to a wider audience, and in doing so maybe I can play some small role in ensuring that these places are there for my kids and grandkids to enjoy in the future.”
Christian also grew up in Rockingham, so he was pleased to return to the area for Tuesday's event.
“My ancestors were among the early settlers in the Rockingham area and I spent a lot of my childhood here, so it was great to return and speak to a group of people who share my passion for photography and concern for our environment.”
Partnership for the Outback spokesperson and MC at the event, Renae Boyd, said that it was wonderful to bring together nearly 100 locals from the Rockingham area to see Christian's photography and to hear a bit more about Create Ranger Parks.
Christian also founded Photographers for the Environment, a group dedicated to using photography to help environmental causes within Australia and around the world. Visit Christian's website to see some of his amazing photography.
Also, a big congratulations to Mary Ann who was the lucky winner of the door prize, a $300 voucher to spend at Christian's galleries or online. If you are interested in hearing about future "Stories of our Outback" events, please register your interest here.
